Buggerru
The area of Buggerru is a great option if you want to visit the sea and climb wonderful crags in the same day. The impressive canyon of Gutturu Cardaxiu is just few kilometers away from the beautiful beach of Cala Domestica. The various climbing sectors offer climbers a variety of difficulties and strikingly dissimilar kinds of climbing. The crags are mostly in the shade in the afternoon, so you can also climb during the summer.
The first crag in Gutturu Cardaxiu is S’Istentales, which has both an east and a west side (so it is suitable for climbing at different times of day) and offers an excellent, vertical, limestone rock face . Following the dirt road down the middle of the canyon, you arrive at the crag of Piccolo Canyon with two opposing slabs offering pitches of medium difficulty, and the perfect Sardus Pater, a wall of finger-punishing pitches that is definitely the preserve of the most selective and skillful climbers. Next is Banana Republic a projecting rock face with, on one side, overhanding pitches as high as grade eight , and on the other, a number of pitches that do not exceed a medium level of difficulty. The canyon of Gutturu Cardaxiu is an oasis of silence that is definitely worth a visit in the summer and throughout the year.
Other canyon with double aspects crags and close to the sea is the Canyon of San Nicolò.
Here the crags of Ficus Area, Sa Mesa – La Torre – Parete Est offer routes of mediam-low difficulty, while the Grotta dei Nasi Lunghi is quite demanding with its overhangins on pipes, but with a breathtaking scenario that worth a visit.
